WINNESHIEK COUNTY BACK ROADS TOUR 2 – November 3, 2018
8:15 AM: Meet at Landers-Adams house, 302 N. Mill St. Please park along the 500 block of Broadway.
Bus will load on Broadway in front of the Landers-Adams house
8:30 — 8:47 AM: Arrive in Burr Oak
8:49 — 9:20 AM: Tour the Advent Church
9:25 — 9:55 AM: Tour Burr Oak Cemetery and learn about the history of several of those interred there
10:00 — 10:10 AM: Travel to St. Agnes Catholic Church, Plymouth Rock and hear about its history
10:20 — 10:25 AM: Travei to Leon Brown farm via Biuffton and Rice-Bathke Cemetery
10:25 – 11:10 AM: Travel to St. John’s Lutheran Church ruins and cemetery and learn about its history
11:40 — 12:15 PM: Travel to Spillville via Ridgeway
12:20 — 1:05 PM: Eat lunch at St. Wenceslaus School
1:05 — 2:05 PM: Divide into 3 groups. Tour the St. Wenceslaus School Museum, St. Wenceslaus Church, and cemetery to learn about Czech history in Winneshiek County
2:10 2:25 PM: Return to Decorah. Visit the Leon Brown gateposts and historic sign at the Winneshiek
2:45 — 3:30 PM: Return to the Landers — Adams house for treats, wrap-up discussion and group suggestions for the next WCHS Back Roads Tour.
*If the weather is coEd, please wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes as we will be outside for the Burr Oak Cemetery presentation, the St. John’s Lutheran presentation, St. Wencesiaus Cemetery taik, and the Leon Brown gateposts and historic sign talk at the fairgrounds.
